How do I join DKA?
Participate in our Rush process, and fill out the application, which is due at 12:00pm the day of our third rush event, Activities night. All those who submit a completed application on time will be considered for New Membership. From there, we will decide whether to proceed with your application, and eventually those who are accepted to our New Member Class will be extended a bid by end of week one.

Is Delta Kappa Alpha like greek life?
No, DKA is first and foremost a Professional Cinematic Arts Society. Our primary goal is professional and creative development through a diverse, inclusive, and respectful community. We recruit solely based on the passion that prospective members have for Cinematic Arts and their respect for our Community Values. While DKA was founded as a Professional Fraternity, Our organization has evolved into a Professional, Gender-Inclusive Society. DKA does have historic traditions, but they have been altered over time to further reflect our modern values. Also, although DKA hosts some social events, our organization’s purpose is not being social. Our events are only supplemental to our mission of building community.

There’s an event I can’t attend. How does this affect me?
It is okay to miss a Rush Event, just be sure to fill out the absence form that will be provided to you. It is available on this website as well as on our Instagram. Communicating early is a plus! Especially if you know you’ll have conflicts. As long as you submit an application, you will be considered for Membership.

What is the time commitment of the New Member Program?
Our New Member Program is about the equivalent of taking a 3 unit class, lasting seven weeks. We expect the process to be taken seriously and fulfilled to the best of your ability. It is designed to inspire team building, and enhance your creative skills. Our program scheduling is flexible and members will be excused for events during which they have class or any other academic/work commitments on a case by case basis.
Top Tips for Recruitment
01. Get to know us.
Attend an Information Session and read about our organization on this website to gain a greater perspective on what our organization is all about. Attending our Sweets & Greets, Speed Meet, and Activites Night events is also highly encouraged. These events give us that chance to get to know you outside of what’s on your application. You also get to know our Actives and get a better sense of what our chapter is like. When attending events, make sure to get to know a variety of people. We pick our new member class as a Chapter, every active you meet will be a part of the decision-making process.
02. Be yourself.
We want to know how you truly are as a person and Cinematic Artist. We are looking for imaginative, collaborative, and driven Cinematic Artists of Character who can all contribute to our chapter in their own unique way. All backgrounds, experience levels, classes, majors, and cinematic interests are welcome! We want to learn what makes you special and which of our values you personally excel in.
03. Be mindful of what you say.
While we love the societal bonds we have formed through social and felllowship opportunities, we are looking for members who are able to balance work life and social life. We are hoping to find those we envision as both valued friends and collaborators. With this in mind, please keep conversations during Recruitment Events to those you would feel comfortable having with acquaintances or co-workers.
04. Get to know other potential members.
Potential New Members you meeting during the recruitment process could become your new friend, collaborator, or fellow new member classmate. Whatever your journeys may be, we encourage you to get to know each other and have fun during this process together regardless of who receives a bid.
05. Make sure your application is in on time.
Submitting your application on time is the only requirement you must complete to be considered for a bid into our New Member Program. Unfortunately, due to the volume of applications we receive, we cannot accept any late or incomplete applications. Please ensure that your applications are proofread and submitted by the deadline. Also be aware of the sharing settings of any PDFs, links, videos or other documents you send so that we can sift through all elements of your application. Applications will be viewed throughout the week following submissions. Please ensure that all elements of your application are shared for anyone with the link to view until the Rush Process has come to a close.
See you there!
